All Bedazzle students perform in at least one show at a National theatre. Our annual variety shows for primary school-age groups are always sold-out. For 2013 was entitled 'Juxtapose' – a medley of dance, drama and song. The 2012 annual showcase was themed ‘Legends’ and included guest spots by our advanced ‘Bedazzle Dance Company’ & ‘4th Wall Theatre’ groups. Performances were held at the Rhodes Theatre, Bishop’s Stortford and Thameside Theatre, Thurrock. Our Saturday Theatre Company performed 'Peter Pan' which combined J. M. Barrie's classic tale set to contemporary music and dance.
Bedazzle 5-day ‘Pop School’ workshops are held annually throughout the summer vacations at various locations. Students choose songs, record to CD to keep as a memento and perform live on stage on the last day. Pop School is also open to Learning Disability groups.
ANNUAL ‘IMAGINE’ SHOW
Every year, towards the festive season, we hold a variety show to support our charity ‘Bedazzle Projects’. Proceeds contribute to our Student Bursaries to support those with learning difficulties and others who are disadvantaged. It’s an integrated show where students from our mainstream Theatre and Dance companies feature, the older members act as mentors. In November 2011 the show was held at St. James’s Church, Piccadilly. For 2012, at the prestigious West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge.
Our 100% pass record is maintained. Our 2012 exam results achieved our highest marks ever – with the majority of students earning top ‘Merits’ and ‘Distinctions’. LAMDA (The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art), is known worldwide as a prestigious accreditation and its curriculum is an intrinsic part of all our Bedazzle Performing Arts courses. Higher levels add valuable UCAS points for University entry.
Thanks to a donation from the East Herts ‘Inequalities Fund’, we successfully ran a number of dance/exercise courses for those with learning difficulties. The aim of our ‘Funky-Fit’ programme is to encourage take-up of sport and fitness activities. Our unique course culminates with participants’ own DVD so they can continue regular dance/exercises at home. The courses have a dramatic effect on social well-being too, with marked improvements in social interaction and self-confidence.
